How to Maintain Your Bike in Hot Weather

Maintenance Tips 15 de septiembre de 2025

Marbella's summer heat can be tough on bikes. Here are our top tips for keeping your ride in great shape when temperatures soar.

Tyre Pressure

Heat causes air to expand. Check your tyre pressure before every ride — you may need to let a little air out compared to cooler months. Over-inflated tyres on hot tarmac can blow.

Chain Lube

Heat and dust accelerate chain wear. Clean and lube your chain more frequently in summer. Use a dry lube rather than wet — it attracts less dust.

Store Out of Direct Sun

UV rays degrade rubber, paint, and bar tape. Store your bike in the shade or indoors whenever possible.

Brake Pads

Dust and grit from dry conditions wear brake pads faster. Check them regularly and replace before they're worn through.

Hydration (for You)

This isn't bike maintenance, but it's crucial. Carry more water than you think you need and drink before you're thirsty.
